Beef prices across the United States have risen sharply over the year, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
From June 2024 to June 2025, every major cut of beef saw an increase, which adds pressure to grocery budgets already strained by overall food inflation.
A lot goes into the cost of beef, including supply and demand, imports and tariffs, higher costs for ranchers on things like feed, and much more.

Here’s a breakdown of the year-over-year increases per the BLS. Information is listed under the “Beef and veal” category:
The steepest increase came from ground chuck, rising nearly 14% in 12 months. Almost every other classification saw an increase of 6.7% or more.
