Former Broken Arrow Mayor Craig Thurmond, who served the city for two decades, has died. He was 71.
City officials said Thurmond died at his home last week. They described him as a dedicated leader who played a significant role in the city’s growth and development.
“His dedication and impact will remain a lasting part of Broken Arrow’s history. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time,” the City of Broken Arrow said in a statement.
Thurmond was first elected to the city council in the early 2000s and went on to serve multiple terms as mayor.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Broken Arrow Life Church, near Kenosha Street and County Line Road
