It's the start of season number six with head coach Bobby Klinck in charge of the Sand Springs football program. The Sandites are loaded with experience on both sides of the ball and are poised to make a run at the six-a-two state title.

"I think we're going to have a good football team. I've told these guys that I think this will probably be the best football team we've had since I've been here," said Klinck.

Expectations are running high for the Sandites in class 6A-II in 2025, and head coach Bobby Klinck and his team are embracing those projections.

"These kids aren't stupid; they understand they have a good football team, and so do we, and so does the rest of the state. And so we're going to embrace it. I want these kids to be prepared for that. We're going to get everyone's best shot," Klinck said.

Sand Springs is coming off an 8-4 season in 2024, but Klinck says his team learned a lot in those four losses.

"Bixby and Owasso played for a 6A-I state championship. And we lost to Muskogee and Choctaw, who played for the 6A-II championship. And so you guys are right there with the best in the state," he said. "You've played them, you know what it looks like. So we've just got to get over that freakin' hump."

One of those players the Sandites are counting on to help get them over that hump is quarterback Easton Webb, who threw for 35-hundred yards and 41 touchdowns last season.

"Easton Webb is absolutely the best quarterback in the state, hands down. I don't care who else is out there. I think I know football, and I've seen it. He's it. He's got everything you want. My expectations for him? To lead this football team and to have an unbelievable season," said Klinck.

The motto for Klinck and his team this season: focus and have fun. And as the Sandites look to bring home their first state title in almost 60 years, they are sticking to that foundation.

"We've just got to stay focused on undistracted, and then ultimately we can't let the pressure of expectations get in the way of having fun. Keep the main thing the main thing, and then ultimately let's have fun out here. As coaches, we try to make kids comfortable with being uncomfortable, but I want to make sure to have fun too."

Sand Springs opens the season at home at Memorial Stadium, as they host reigning 6A-I state champion Bixby.
