A young boy drowned in McCurtain County, OHP says.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a young boy drowned Saturday afternoon in McCurtain County.

The report says it happened just before 1 p.m. on Spillway Creek, just 10 miles North from Broken Bow.

Troopers say the boy jumped into the river to swim before he was overtaken by the current.

The report notes he was not wearing a life vest.

The cause of the drowning is currently under investigation.
