Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols and members of the city council are expected to meet Wednesday, Aug. 8, to discuss next steps in the city's efforts to address homelessness.

The meeting will focus on a potential Rehousing Plan and other strategies aimed at reducing homelessness, including increasing shelter capacity and affordable housing development.

Nichols has said his administration’s goal is to reach "Functional Zero homelessness" by 2030. That would mean homelessness in Tulsa is rare, brief and non-recurring.

Earlier this summer, Nichols told News On 6 the city is committed to creating 6,000 new affordable housing units as part of a long-term plan to address the crisis.
