Alexa Maloney, the artist behind Alexa’s Illustrations, says every client project begins with a story.
“I am inspired by every inquiry that comes my way,” Maloney said. “Each client seeks something special and meaningful that speaks to them and their loved ones.”
Her work includes custom house portraits, wedding keepsakes, murals for local businesses, invitation suites, and more. Many of her clients have ties to Oklahoma, and Maloney said those personal connections are central to what she creates.
Although Maloney didn’t attend art school, she’s been drawing since childhood and continued painting while working a full-time job. What began as a hobby evolved into a small online shop ten years ago.
Since then, she has completed more than 600 custom pieces, ranging from watercolor portraits to branding and merchandise design. Her growing portfolio includes collaborations with corporate clients and custom illustrations for events.
Maloney’s work recently found a new home inside the BOK Center’s Trisha Yearwood’s ParTY Nachos.

A few years ago, she experimented with a toile de Jouy-style design—an elegant, pastoral French pattern—but with a Tulsa twist. The result: a digitally illustrated wallpaper featuring local landmarks.
“The design team for the Tulsa location found mine, thinking it a perfect fit for their vision,” she said.
Maloney attended the venue’s ribbon-cutting in July, where she met Yearwood and saw the finished space.
In addition to custom illustrations, Maloney has two public murals—one in Guthrie and another in Muskogee—and exclusive products available at the Philbrook Museum Shop.
Maloney says custom portrait commissions are open through Thanksgiving for those interested in holiday gifts.
