New Tulsa head coach Tre Lamb is giving Kirk Francis the keys to his offense. The Former Metro Christian star had a great spring and is set to be the starting QB for the Golden Hurricane in 2025.
During American Media Day on Friday, Lamb gave high praise to TU's wide receiver room saying it might be the most talented on the roster..
That means its up to Francis and Lamb, the play caller to deliver. And the head man believes in number 11 to get the job done.
Lamb said, "I felt like when I got here Kirk lacked confidence. He has been through multiple play callers, and he has been in and out of the line-up. Kirk needs some consistency in his game, and I'm going to give that to him."
Lamb added, "I believe in him, I think he's a good player. He needs some consistent play calling and consistent playing time. He has had nine starts and won four of those. I like his moxie. Let's call a spade a spade, his offensive line was terrible last year, so we tried to bring some bigger guys in to protect him and faster guys to throw it too."
After seeing limited action in 2023, Francis started the 2024 campaign at quarterback for Tulsa under then head coach Kevin Wilson. As Lamb eluded too, Francis was a little up and down but he didn't get much help around him. Francis ended the year throwing for over 1,580 yards to go with nine touchdowns and six interceptions.
Lamb, Francis, and TU open the 2025 season against Abilene Christian on Saturday, August 30 at 7 pm.
Make sure and tune into the Oklahoma Ford Sports Blitz Sunday night where we'll share an exclusive interview with Tre Lamb live in-studio.
