A Tulsa family wants to find a Good Samaritan who saved a woman’s life who had a heart attack while driving.

The family says Patricia Stephens pulled over under the bridge on I-44 and 165th East Avenue Monday afternoon before one.

A man pulled over, gave her water, called 911, and stayed with her.

A SCARY SITUATION

Stephens was driving from Sand Springs to Catoosa to pick up a coffee pot from an online marketplace.

She started feeling unwell and realized quickly she had to get off the road.

"A gentleman pulled up behind her, and I guess asked if she was okay and saw she was in distress, got her some ice and some water, tried to keep her cool, called emergency personnel out,” said Michael Arnold, her son-in-law. “When she got to the hospital, she was very close to not being with us anymore."

The doctors say Stephens had a heart attack.

"Just to see her basically knocking on death's door and knowing that if it wasn't for that amazing passerby that stopped, she might not be with us today,” said Arnold.

THE GOOD SAMARITAN

She doesn’t remember much about the man who saved her life.

"She says he's probably late 40s, probably very early 50s, athletic build, driving, I think she said a red sports car,” said Arnold. “The description she gave was similar to a Miata."

They appreciate his act of kindness and hope it inspires other people to also help others.

"I would say, thank you,” said Arnold. “Don't stop doing what you're doing, I hope this is an inspiration for everybody to think twice before they just pass somebody, because you might be saving someone else's loved one when you do."

Because they can’t even begin to imagine a life without Stephens.

"She'll tell you exactly how it is and no uncertain terms,” said Arnold. “She's got the biggest heart, she's an amazing woman, and I couldn't have a better mother-in-law, ever."

Arnold says it has restored his faith in humanity.

"Good people are still out there,” said Arnold. “A lot of them. Not everything is negative, not at all. If we could all strive to be just like that one good person, the world would be a much better place."

DO YOU KNOW HIM?

Stephens says the man told her he would add her to his prayer group, so she thinks maybe someone might recognize him from a church.

She would love to meet him again in better circumstances.
