A man is in the hospital after Tulsa Police say he attacked officers with a shovel while they were trying to arrest him for violating a protective order.

Officers responded to a home near Pine Street and Sheridan Road on Sunday night after a woman called 911 to report that her estranged husband had shown up at her residence in violation of a court order.

Investigators say two officers found the man in the backyard and attempted to arrest him. During the encounter, police say the man attacked one of the officers with a shovel.

One officer deployed a Taser, but police say it had no effect. Officers then fired their weapons, hitting the man multiple times.

He was taken to the hospital, and police have not released an update on his condition. His name has not been released.

Police say only one of the two officers fired their weapon, and that the entire encounter took place outside. Detectives are still reviewing the events that led up to the shooting.

No officers were injured.
