A wave of summer fun rolled through Nowata as firefighters and first responders turned their hoses on the community—but this time, it was all in good fun.
During “The Great Nowata Water Fight,” fire crews drove through neighborhoods spraying water on children and families, while residents fired back with water guns, hoses, balloons, and even buckets.
The citywide splash fest turned the town into a playful battleground—and the community showed up in full force.
“A huge shoutout to event organizer and city employee Brandon Hawn, and the entire team at the Nowata Fire Department,” the city wrote in a recap post. “Also, a special thanks to all the fire departments and first responders from surrounding communities who showed up to support the launch of this family-friendly event.”
The event was inspired by a friendly challenge from the Chelsea Fire Department and now, the baton—or water hose—has been passed.
Nowata is calling on the Bartlesville Professional Firefighters, the City of Bartlesville, and Dewey Fire to keep the splash battle going.
