A New Leaf opened a new day center in Broken Arrow for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities on Monday, July 7, organizers said.
The day center serves adults who are not currently employed or have entered retirement. A New Leaf said the center provides essential services.
Some of the activities offered include life skills development, health and wellness, and social engagement. The nonprofit said the center provides personalized programming to reflect each participant’s abilities, goals, and preferences.

The expansion was made possible through a partnership with Life Senior Services, A New Leaf said. Life Senior Services had served 20 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the Broken Arrow day center before transferring the site to A New Leaf to better meet their needs.

“Everyone deserves a meaningful day, every day,” said Tammie Lewis, chief programs officer at A New Leaf. “Just because someone isn’t working or has retired from their job doesn’t mean they should be left without purpose, connection, or joy. Our Day Center is a place where individuals can thrive, build relationships, and feel valued.”
