'Salute 2 Service' event to honor local heroes on Skiatook Lake

918 Boats and Operation Wakesurf are teaming up once again to give back to Oklahoma’s everyday heroes, hosting the second annual “Salute 2 Service” event on Skiatook Lake from July 16–18.

The nonprofit experience blends high-energy watersports with heartfelt appreciation, offering local first responders, active-duty military, and veterans a chance to unwind, connect and reflect.

Celebrating Service Through Water Therapy

Operation Wakesurf, a national organization known for its therapeutic approach to wake sports, launched the Salute 2 Service series to honor those who serve their communities and country. This year, 918 Boats is hosting the Oklahoma edition with support from local partners.

Over three days, 30 selected participants will spend time on the water behind top-tier wake boats—including Centurion, Moomba and Supra models—enjoying a mix of wake surfing, wakeboarding and camaraderie.

Collaborating for Community Impact

The event is more than just adrenaline—it’s also about healing. 918 Boats is working alongside Freedom Surf and Barefoot Wakes, two Oklahoma nonprofits with missions aligned around mental wellness and community support.

"These events offer a restorative outlet to those who carry the weight of service," organizers said. "It’s a way to say thank you—and to provide peace through motion."

Nominations Now Open

Organizers are asking the community to help identify deserving participants. Nominations are now open for first responders, veterans, or active-duty military members who would benefit from the event.

Each nominee selected will spend a full day on the water, with time carved out for connection, reflection and fun.
