Living Arts hosts a weeklong series designed to spotlight Tulsa artists and invite community participation.
Living Arts is inviting the community to express its creativity through a unique series of workshops featuring Tulsa artists. Called “Oh, Tulsa!”, the program features a week of hands-on classes, ranging from classic techniques like drawing and pointillism to experimental 3-D creations.
The workshops are designed to engage participants of all skill levels, offering a chance to try new artistic techniques in an approachable environment.
The “Oh, Tulsa!” series highlights the vibrant talent of local artists, with each workshop led by an expert in their craft. The goal, organizers say, is to both showcase artistic voices and encourage the community to tap into its creative potential.
Participants can explore different art forms throughout the week. The lineup includes:
The 3-D class in particular offers a quirky twist, inviting attendees to decorate a hand-sculpted tongue, designed by artist Tracy Jennings.
Jennings says the unusual class is more than just fun, it’s meant to spark conversation.
“What students will do, or attendees will do, is choose a hand sculpted tongue, by me, and they will begin to paint if they want and they can embellish, and this will just be a conversation piece that they can have in their home,” she said.
Workshops are taking place July 10, 11, 13 and 15 at Living Arts in downtown Tulsa.
