A new partnership in Tulsa is having a sweet impact on the community. Glacier Chocolate has teamed up with Food On The Move to create a limited-edition box of chocolates that supports the nonprofit's cause.
Truffle Box
The boxes contain 14-pieces with a mix of milk and dark chocolate truffles. The truffle flavors include: cinnamon roll, cookies & cream, sea salt caramel, cookie dough, and wild strawberry among others.
The chocolates are tucked behind a window with fun facts about Food On The Move on each one. Program Director, Rusty Rowe said, "My wife and my kids went through a whole box in a single day but they were just excited to be able to open that next window to be able to read what Food On The Move is doing."
Fighting Food Insecurity
Food On The Move is a nonprofit that works to fight food insecurity and brings quality food and resources into areas without access to fresh produce. It was founded by Tulsa artist Taylor Hanson of the band Hanson in 2014.
"We focus on creating access to healthier food, we have some education programs, and we are also building a giant indoor farm right now," said Rowe. The monthly distributions happen rain or shine in north and west Tulsa, two parts of the city that are considered food deserts for their lack of grocery stores.
Sweet Way to Give Back
The limited-edition box of Glacier Chocolate x Food On The Move truffles costs $50. The sale of each box will benefit Food On The Move to help support its mission. Glacier Chocolate owner, Katie Hutto said, "We have worked with lots of nonprofits over the years, but creating a very unique, educational piece, this is the first time that we have done it."
The boxes are available online and in Glacier stores. There are two Tulsa locations:
