The University of Tulsa has announced it plans to use its stadium for concerts through a partnership with the Oak View Group. Keller Taylor, the group's Vice President, spoke with us more about the new deal.

Q: What is the Oak View Group?

"We manage public assets for people like the city of Tulsa and are an entertainment company that operates in about 400 different venues across primarily North America, but internationally as well.”

Q: What inspired Oak View Group's partnership with the University of Tulsa?

"The success of the Def Leppard, Motley Crue in August of 2023 show inspired us to continue having conversations with the University of Tulsa about the football stadium when we came to town in 2023. So, we took the success with that coupled with the new leadership in athletics with Justin Moore, and then we’ve been able to capitalize and make it an official partnership where we can hopefully bring a few shows a year here to Tulsa.”

Q: What was the community reaction to the 2023 concert?

“I think what we heard from the community is we want these bigger shows in town, and so we've got a great asset out at TU that we can maximize using the relationships both here locally with Oak View Group as well as nationally. ”

Q: Why Chapman Stadium?

"It's more seats than anyone can offer in the market, and so 30,000 seats gets us the next caliber of stadium act, so it will put us right in line with all the other stadium shows across the upper Midwest.”

Q: When will the concerts be?

“We’re looking at spring primarily to target for shows, after school is out, when student athletes are probably off campus, so we can make more facilities available to the concert promoters and not disrupt the normal activities.”

University of Tulsa's Director of Athletics, Justin Moore, sent News On 6 this statement:

"We are excited to collaborate with the Oak View Group to bring concerts back to H.A. Chapman Stadium. The enthusiasm surrounding the concert in 2023 was incredible, and we want to build on that momentum. We look forward to working with the Oak View Group and utilizing their expertise as we expand event opportunities at the University of Tulsa."
