A 17-year-old male suspect is in custody, accused of 16 burglaries dating back to early May, Tulsa Police say.
The Tulsa Police Department said detectives have been investigating a string of burglaries near 61st and Yale, 51st and Harvard, and 51st and Yale since May 5. The suspect fled on a turquoise moped repeatedly in these cases, police said.
On Monday, officers were called to Cash America Pawn near 49th and S. Peoria Ave for a burglary call where the suspect was seen on the moped leaving the area. Minutes later, a burglary report was called to TPD at the EZ Pawn at 61st and Peoria, with the same turquoise moped involved.
Officers responded and searched the area for the suspect and found the 17-year-old near 5600 S. Rockford, where he was arrested.
Since he is below 18, he has not been named.
TPD said he confessed to the two burglaries that night as well as dispensary burglaries the past six weeks.
Police shared photos of the large number of stolen items recovered from the suspect's apartment in Tulsa. They said detectives believe others may be involved in the burglaries.
