In Tulsa, the protests are scheduled to take place between noon and 5 p.m. Local organizers are encouraging residents to exercise their First Amendment rights and maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
Tulsa Police say they will have normal staffing in place during today’s demonstrations, but additional officers will be on standby. Governor Kevin Stitt has also confirmed that Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are prepared to assist if needed.
Organizers say “No Kings Day” is meant to call attention to what they see as an erosion of democratic norms and civil liberties. Events are expected to continue throughout the afternoon in Tulsa and other cities across the nation.
