People around the country are planning to protest against President Donald Trump on Saturday. Several of those demonstrations are planned in Green Country.
"Our purpose is to embrace our rights under our democracy," said Heather Hope, a spokesperson for Indivisible Tulsa County and organizer of the 41st and Yale protest.
Hope said she does not like the way the President is running the country, speaking out specifically on the handling of immigration. She expects big crowds at each of the protests.
"This is not our first protest," said Hope. "This is, I think, our third or fourth since January or February. They've all been peaceful."
Similar protests are planned in Bartlesville, Broken Arrow, McAlester and Tahlequah. In Tulsa, the two others are planned for downtown at the county courthouse and near 71st and Memorial.
Tulsa Police are aware of the demonstrations and say they support lawful protests.
"You can do it on public property," said Capt. Richard Meulenberg, Tulsa Police. "Don't block streets. Don't prohibit other people and their movement, because your expression of your rights just can't supersede someone else's rights."
Meulenberg anticipates peaceful protests but says officers will be ready in case something unfolds.
"Typically, it's not the organizer, it's a small group of people who work within that," said Meulenberg. "They're the ones that are trying to facilitate hate, destruction. So, we're going to make sure that if that happens, we're going to isolate those people and solve the problem."
All three of the Tulsa protests are scheduled to take place between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. More information on the protests can be found HERE.
