The Circle Cinema hosted a Naturalization Ceremony on Wednesday, where 39 immigrants became U.S. citizens. After swearing an oath of allegiance to the United States, the former immigrants were congratulated by U.S. District Court Judge Sara Hill.
"May this be a joyful welcome into our community and our country and the next chapter of your lives," said Beth Bovaird, the President of the Circle Cinema Board of Directors, as she announced each of the new citizens would be members of Circle Cinema for one year.
The naturalized citizens were from 12 countries, with the largest group from Mexico, but others from Japan, Colombia, Pakistan and Kenya, including Faith Rahub Muthoni Wanbugu. "This is very very exciting," she said, "I've been longing and waiting for this day. I've thankful to God and all who have supported me."
Alma Charqueno, from Mexico, said it had taken her years to go through the process of naturalization. "I'm so happy, and it's a goal we always had when we came to the country, to be a part of it," she said.
