Independence Day is just weeks away, and fireworks vendors are reporting early signs of strain. It doesn't only come from supply shortages this summer, but from growing concerns over next year’s inventory. Sellers say rising tariffs on imported goods are starting to take a toll on the fireworks industry, particularly for products sourced from China.

Industry insiders explain that most fireworks are ordered about a year in advance. At the time many orders were placed, import tariffs were estimated at around 5%. However, suppliers say recent changes in trade policy have pushed those tariffs to as high as 30%, dramatically increasing costs.

The financial impact is already prompting some suppliers to pause or scale back future orders, raising concerns about availability and pricing for the 2026 season. With many fireworks still made overseas, especially in China, import delays and price hikes could affect everything from local stands to large public displays.

Experts say the current supply for this year's Fourth of July celebrations remains steady, but buyers may see changes next year if tariffs remain high and shipping issues continue.
