A fiery crash at a Tulsa intersection sent three people to the hospital late Sunday night after a high-speed collision between a Ford Mustang and a pickup truck.
Bystanders and officers are being credited with pulling victims from the burning vehicle just moments before it was fully engulfed.
The collision happened around 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, near 300 S. Lewis Ave.
Surveillance video from a nearby grocery store shows the pickup truck heading north on Lewis Avenue when it began turning west onto 3rd Street. At that same time, a Ford Mustang traveling south on Lewis struck the pickup. Police say the Mustang appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed.
The engine of the Mustang proceeded to catch fire. Flames were visible immediately following the collision, quickly spreading through the front of the vehicle.
Police officers who responded to the scene acted fast, pulling the driver and passenger from the burning car before it was completely consumed. Several bystanders also jumped in to help.
The driver and passenger of the Mustang, along with the driver of the pickup, were all taken to a nearby hospital. According to police, all three are expected to survive their injuries.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
