The Oklahoma Sooners’ season came to an end Monday in Chapel Hill, falling 14-4 to North Carolina in the NCAA Regional Final. Forced to play out of the loser’s bracket, OU ran out of pitching depth, using seven arms in the loss. The Tar Heels jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never let up, riding a dominant offensive performance to the win.
Freshman Drew Dickerson hit his third home run of the weekend, while Jason Walk and Easton Carmichael added late RBI, but the Sooners couldn’t keep pace. Despite a solid relief outing from Dylan Tate, UNC tagged multiple OU pitchers, including two eighth-inning homers off freshman Jackson Kircher.
In their first SEC season, the Sooners (38-22) showed promise and resilience but fell short of reaching a Super Regional for the third straight year.
