Oklahoma State Stuns Georgia with Four-Run Ninth to Advance
Third-seeded Oklahoma State pulled off a dramatic comeback, scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth to upset No. 7 national seed and host Georgia, 11-9, in the NCAA Athens Regional at Foley Field.
Kollin Ritchie and Brock Thompson each launched two-run homers in the final frame, with Thompson’s opposite-field shot to left sealing the walk-off win. The victory pushes the Cowboys (30-24) into the regional final, where they’ll need to beat Duke twice to advance to the Super Regional. Georgia ends its season at 43-17.
Matthew Brown earned his first collegiate win, striking out the side in a scoreless ninth after entering with two Bulldogs in scoring position.
Nolan Schubart opened the scoring with his 19th homer of the year and 59th of his career. Alex Conover and Brayden Smith added early RBI hits as OSU jumped ahead 3-0 before Georgia stormed back with a five-run third.
Down 7-3, OSU tied it in the fifth behind timely hits and a sacrifice fly from Ian Daugherty. Georgia briefly regained the lead twice before the Cowboys’ ninth-inning heroics completed the comeback and kept their season alive.
