Early Momentum:
Tulsa QB TJ Edwards continued his standout season, putting the Oilers on the board first with a 5-yard rushing touchdown. Quad City responded with a long field goal, trimming the lead to 6-3 late in the first quarter.
Red Zone Miss, Defensive Stand:
Tulsa was stopped on 4th down deep in Quad City territory, while the Oilers' defense forced a three-and-out on the next series. The Steamwheelers took a 10-6 lead into halftime.
Familiar Face Hurts Tulsa:
Former Oiler Jarrod Ware found the end zone for Quad City in the third quarter, extending the lead to 17-6.
Fourth-Quarter Shootout:
Edwards hit Cole Blackman for a 12-yard touchdown early in the fourth, followed by another Steamwheelers score. A turnover gave Quad City a chance to put the game away, but Tulsa’s defense came up big with a stop.
Late Drama:
Edwards added two more rushing touchdowns, including a 1-yard “tush push,” to close the gap. But Quad City’s Daquan Neal delivered a backbreaking fourth-down touchdown with under a minute left. Tulsa couldn’t recover the onside kick, sealing a 31-27 loss.
