Historical Context and Series Notes
Oklahoma and Illinois State have never met on the football field.
OU and Michigan previously met only once before — on January 1, 1976, in the Orange Bowl. The Sooners’ 14-6 victory secured their second consecutive national championship under coach Barry Switzer. Oklahoma is scheduled to visit Michigan in 2026 as part of a home-and-home series announced in 2014.
Oklahoma holds a 2-1 series edge against Temple, playing them for the second consecutive season. Last year’s opener saw OU win 51-3 at home, highlighted by three receiving touchdowns from wide receiver Deion Burks in his debut. The series dates back to 1940, with OU winning 9-6 in Norman and Temple taking a 14-7 victory in Philadelphia in 1942.
In the historic rivalry against Texas, Oklahoma has won 11 of its last 16 meetings and holds a 30-22-3 record since 1971.
