Fresh off receiving his MVP trophy, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 38 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder past the Minnesota Timberwolves 118-103 on Thursday, taking a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals.

SGA went 12-of-21 from the field and 13-of-15 from the line, scoring 19 by halftime, including five points in the final 20 seconds of the second quarter. “I was a little too juiced up at the start,” he said. “Winning lets me soak in the moment.”

Jalen Williams added 26 points and 10 boards, while Chet Holmgren chipped in 22. The Thunder’s defense, anchored by newly-named All-Defensive selections Lu Dort (first team) and Williams (second team), held Minnesota to 41.4% shooting.

Anthony Edwards led the Wolves with 32 points on 26 shots. Jaden McDaniels had 22, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 17.

Oklahoma City built a 93-71 lead heading into the fourth after highlight plays from SGA and Holmgren. Minnesota cut it to 10 late, but the Thunder held firm. Game 3 is Saturday in Minneapolis, where the Wolves are 4-1 this postseason.
