Drivers around downtown Tulsa are feeling the squeeze as a key bridge rehabilitation project continues on the Inner Dispersal Loop (IDL).
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) says work on the northeast corner of I-244 is expected to finish by the end of June, but in the meantime, closures and lane reductions are in place and impacting daily.
Osage SkyNews 6 captured images of I-244 near the Highway 75 junction, where the interstate is reduced to a single lane. The northbound Highway 75 ramp to westbound I-244 is also closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day through the end of May.
Drivers should be aware of the following full closures on the north leg of the IDL:
While the eastbound lanes face heavy restrictions, the westbound side remains open:
ODOT is directing traffic to use the south and east legs of the IDL as detour routes. Drivers should follow signs for US-75/I-444 and US-64/SH-51 and check daily traffic updates for temporary lane changes.
Officials say the project is on track to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting. In the meantime, ODOT advises planning ahead and using alternate routes when possible.
