The Tulsa Fire Department says it's one of the first in Oklahoma to adopt a new response information system.

The Department says the 'National Emergency Response Information System' was developed by the U.S. Fire Administration and Homeland Security.

It says the system helps departments deploy resources better in emergencies, analyze patterns in certain areas and evaluate performance compared to other cities.

The Oklahoma Legislature passed a law this session requiring all Oklahoma Fire Departments to adopt the NERIS platform.

The Department says this system replaces an older system that has been used for the last 40 years.

TFD says it's one of the first in Oklahoma and one of the first metro fire departments nationwide to adopt the new platform.
