Westbound I-40 reopened near Okemah after crash in work zone

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says I-40 westbound is back open.

4:45 P.M. UPDATE: I-40 westbound lanes are back open near Okemah (mile marker 215) after a crash in the work zone this afternoon shut down traffic for approximately two hours, ODOT says.

No details on the crash have been released.

The westbound lanes of Interstate 40 are closed near Okemah in Okfuskee County following a crash in the work zone Tuesday afternoon, authorities say.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation said beginning a mile marker 216, a few miles west of Okemah, all westbound lanes of I-40 are closed.

"Drivers should avoid the area and locate an alternate route," ODOT said.
