Tulsa Community College’s Children’s Summer Theatre is searching for young stars to take the stage in its upcoming production of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical.
Adapted from Jeff Kinney’s internationally best-selling book series, the show offers kids ages 6 through 17 the chance to bring middle school misadventures to life. Auditions are scheduled for June at TCC’s Southeast Campus, with performances set for late July.
Auditions will be held June 7 and 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the PACE Studio Theatre on TCC’s Southeast Campus.
A callback session and additional auditions are scheduled for June 14 during the same time window.
Performers should prepare 16 to 32 bars of an up-tempo, contemporary musical theatre song. An accompanist will be provided. Sheet music must be printed and placed in a three-ring binder with the beginning and end clearly marked. Participants should also be ready to read from the script.
Based on the hit series by Jeff Kinney, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical follows Greg Heffley, a regular kid trying to navigate the chaos of middle school, friendships and growing up.
Packed with catchy songs and laugh-out-loud moments, the show is designed to connect with anyone who’s survived the ups and downs of adolescence.
Performances will run from July 24 through July 27 on TCC’s PACE Main Stage.
The production is part of TCC’s annual Children’s Summer Theatre program, which aims to nurture young talent and promote youth arts engagement in the Tulsa community.
Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid series has sold over 275 million copies worldwide. This musical adaptation, developed by Orlando Family Stage, captures the humor, heart and hijinks of the beloved books.
Young performers will not only have the chance to shine on stage, but also to connect with a story that has entertained a generation.
