Two men were rescued from the Arkansas River by Tulsa Firefighters on Tuesday.
The Tulsa Fire Department said the men were doing refinery work along the river before they were swept away.
One man's waders filled with water to where he could not swim. TFD said a lifejacket saved his life.
With the amount of rain that fell recently, firefighters urge everyone to be cautious around the river.
"Wear a life jacket if at all possible, and try to stay away from the moving water as much as you can," said Burl Nicholson with Tulsa Fire. "If you're fishing, life jacket all the time, whether you're a few feet from the water, especially with kids, always have a life jacket."
Authorities said not only are water levels high, the water is moving faster than normal, too, so safety is a top priority.
