A unique community blood drive is taking place at the Oklahoma Aquarium, combining the thrill of sharks with the urgent need for blood donations. The event is hosted by Our Blood Institute (OBI) and runs from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 2.
Here are the key things to know:
Donors can find the Bloodmobile stationed at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks from 1 to 5 p.m.
Everyone who donates will receive a limited-edition T-shirt celebrating the aquarium’s shark exhibit.
In addition to the shirt, donors can choose one free ticket to either Frontier City or Hurricane Harbor in Oklahoma City.
Each donor is also entered into a drawing for a family four-pack of tickets to the Oklahoma Aquarium.
According to OBI, the donation process takes about one hour, and a single donation can save up to three lives.
Anyone 16 or older is eligible to donate. No appointment is required, but you can schedule one at obi.org or by calling 877-340-8777. Every donor also receives a free mini-physical, including a blood pressure and cholesterol check.
