Thirty people celebrated a major milestone yesterday, graduating from Tulsa County’s Drug, DUI, and Veterans Treatment Court programs — initiatives designed to offer participants a path to sobriety and stability instead of prison time.
Graduates spent between 18 months and three years working through the intensive programs, which focus on rehabilitation, accountability, and long-term recovery support.
Michelle Fennell, who graduated from the program last year, spoke about how it transformed her life.
"Just gratitude that there is a program like this, that there is a courtroom you can walk into, and instead of being told you're a mistake, you know, go to prison, they're like, hey, maybe you have a problem. Let us help you," Fennell said.
Today, Fennell gives back by working for the very program that helped her turn her life around.
