Local musicians traded in their instruments for wheelbarrows on Friday for the Recording Academy's National Day of Service. They worked in the gardens at Food On The Move's Urban Farm.

Shovels, dirt, and teamwork took center stage. Volunteers picked up shovels to plant herbs and vegetables as part of the Recording Academy's Day That Music Cares.

Every person who showed up to help is part of the local music community, including Natalie Bowling. She may not know a lot about gardening, but she's willing to get her hands dirty and help.

"In Tulsa, we have a very tight community, so a lot of these people I already know and have already talked to several times before, so it's more like a family planting and giving back together," she said.

The vegetables they plant will go to support Food On The Move's mission of fighting food insecurity.

It's hard work, but for Caleb Larsen, it's worth the extra effort.

"I think music as a whole is very community-oriented,  especially in the industry, and so it's really great to see us, local musicians and people in the Tulsa area, coming together to help support a good cause."
