A Tulsa man was arrested Tuesday night after police say he attacked and attempted to strangle his brother during an argument over a lottery ticket.

Officers responded to a call around 6:45 p.m. on April 23 at a home near East 31st Street and South 129th East Avenue. According to the Tulsa Police Department, the victim told investigators his brother, David Strickland, accused him of stealing a lottery ticket and then began hitting and strangling him.

The victim managed to escape the house and call police. Officers initially searched the home but were unable to find Strickland.

A few hours later, officers returned and saw Strickland outside. When he noticed police, Strickland ran back into the house. Officers made multiple announcements asking him to surrender, but he refused. Eventually, they found him hiding in the attic. He claimed he had fallen asleep.

Strickland was arrested for domestic assault and battery by strangulation, as well as resisting arrest.
