One Skiatook police officer proved that sometimes, heroes wear badges—and carry shovels.
It all began with a worried phone call. In Skiatook, a dog named Princess had somehow gotten herself trapped beneath a backyard shed.
Unable to reach her, the owner turned to the Skiatook Police Department for help.
Officer Austin was the one who answered the call. Arriving on the scene with nothing but determination and a shovel, he got right to work.
Dirt flew as he carefully dug around the structure, making sure not to harm the frightened dog beneath.
After a bit of elbow grease and a lot of heart, Officer Austin was able to free Princess. She emerged from under the shed muddy but unharmed, and with her tail wagging.
The connection between the pup and her rescuer was instant.
Princess’ owner was beyond relieved to have her four-legged friend safe and sound again. Princess, for her part, seemed just as happy to be out in the open and back by her owner’s side—especially with her new hero standing nearby.
The Skiatook Police Department shared the story as a reminder of the heart and humanity behind the badge.
As they put it: 'Shed happens—but we’re here for it.' For Officer Austin, it was just another day of serving and protecting—whether it's people or pups in need.
