First Time Parents

Levi and Katrina are first-time parents to their 2-and-a-half-month-old son, Bodhi. He was born January 30th, 2025, at 6.1 pounds and 21 inches long.

“We waited a long time to meet this little fella, and we couldn’t be more happy that he’s here,” said Levi.

Delivery Turned Emergency

Katrina says her pregnancy was nearly perfect….until she went into labor. After 30 hours of labor, a fever spiked, and her blood pressure shot up, so Katrina was rushed into an emergency C-section. Bodhi was born safely, but after the delivery, Katrina’s condition got worse, and she was taken to the ICU.

“They told me that I was in sepsis and multi-organ failure, my kidneys failed, liver failure, heart failure, and then sepsis….and I still don’t know why any of that happened,” she said.

A Call for Help

Katrina's condition stabilized, but her kidneys never recovered. Now, just months into her new role as a mother, Katrina is undergoing dialysis 4 times a week while waiting for a kidney transplant. The family holds out hope that a match, and a second chance, will come.

“Even if they’re not a match for me, maybe they're a match for somebody else on the list, and maybe they are still willing to donate and somebody else can get a kidney out of it, so even if I don’t anything out of it, maybe somebody else will,” said Katrina.

Katrina is an O+ blood type, which means she can receive a kidney from someone with O+ or O- blood.
