Leaders across Green Country want your help shaping the future of biking and walking in your community.

The Indian Nations Council of Governments (INCOG) is rolling out updates to its regional bike and pedestrian master plan, and they’re asking the public to weigh in.

Open houses are scheduled in cities across the Tulsa metro starting next week. Here’s what you need to know:

1. The GO Plan is getting a refresh

INCOG’s GO Plan serves as the long-term strategy for improving biking and walking infrastructure in the region.

It focuses on expanding access, increasing safety and connecting communities through trails, sidewalks and bike lanes.

2. The public is invited to share ideas

To gather community input, INCOG is hosting a series of open houses in multiple cities. Attendees can review proposed updates, speak with planners and share their thoughts on what changes are needed most.

3. Open house schedule spans four days and five locations

Residents across the Tulsa metro can attend one of the following open houses:

  1. Monday, April 21 - 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sapulpa Library, 27 W. Dewey Ave., Sapulpa
  2. Tuesday, April 22 - 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Case Community Center, 1050 W. Wekiwa Road, Sand Springs
  3. Wednesday, April 23 - 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Broken Arrow Public Safety Center – Police Department Building, 1101 N. 6th St., Broken Arrow
  4. Thursday, April 24 - 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Zarrow Regional Library, North Meeting Room, 2224 W. 51st St., Tulsa
  5. Thursday, April 24 - 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Martin Regional Library, Auditorium, 2601 S. Garnett Rd., Tulsa

4. The focus is on safety and accessibility

INCOG officials say the goal is to create a safer, more connected experience for pedestrians and cyclists.

This includes better crosswalks, expanded bike routes and improved access to public spaces for people of all ages and abilities.

5. Your feedback will help shape the final plan

The updated GO Plan is expected later this year, and community feedback will play a key role in shaping its priorities. INCOG encourages anyone who walks or bikes — or wants to — to attend an event and get involved.
