USA BMX and USA Cycling are joining forces to give the nation’s top BMX racers a new home base in Tulsa.
The USA BMX National Headquarters is now the official year-round training facility for the USA Cycling BMX Racing National Team, setting the stage for major developments in athlete development and event hosting.
The move signals a deeper collaboration between two of the sport’s leading organizations and positions Tulsa as a hub for Olympic-level BMX racing.
The partnership opens up full-time access to USA BMX’s headquarters and Hardesty National BMX Stadium for national team and development athletes.
The facility includes an elite-level track and gym, providing a centralized, high-performance environment.
“This is a major step forward for BMX racing in the U.S.,” said Jim Miller, Chief of Sports Performance at USA Cycling. “By working with USA BMX, we’re giving riders the best training environment and a clear path from local races all the way to the Olympics.”
Beyond the riders, the agreement also supports the coaches. USA Cycling will work with USA BMX and the USA BMX Foundation to expand training and mentorship opportunities for coaches.
The goal is to improve guidance for athletes at all levels.
With top riders like Alise Willoughby and Cameron Wood expected to train in Tulsa, the city will also likely host some of the sport’s biggest events.
These include National Championships, Continental Championships, and potentially Olympic qualifying races, bringing international attention and tourism to the area.
The USA BMX Headquarters and Hall of Fame opened in February 2022. Since then, Tulsa has become a central gathering point for the BMX community. This new partnership cements the city’s role in the future of the sport.
“Since the completion of USA BMX Headquarters and Hall of Fame, Tulsa has been the heart of the USA BMX community,” said B.A. Anderson, CEO of USA BMX. “We are thrilled to extend our hospitality to the USA Cycling BMX Racing National Team.”
Officials say this collaboration is about strengthening the entire U.S. BMX ecosystem — providing athletes and coaches with world-class resources while inspiring the next generation of riders.
