Oklahoma State Basketball officially signs four-star center Ben Ahmed

Oklahoma State men’s basketball made a big addition official on Wednesday as 6-foot-9 center Ben Ahmed signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Cowboys.

A native of Nigeria, Ahmed has spent the last three seasons at Putnam Science Academy in northeastern Connecticut, where he helped lead the Mustangs to two national prep championships. He leaves as the program’s all-time leader in both scoring and rebounding.

A consensus four-star prospect, Ahmed is ranked as high as No. 74 in the Class of 2025 by On3.

OSU head coach Steve Lutz shared his enthusiasm about Ahmed’s commitment:

“Ben is a physical, left-handed post player who is coming to us from one of the best prep school programs in the country. He’s a hard worker and a relentless rebounder who understands what it takes to prepare, compete and win at the highest levels, having played in three straight national title games. I’m excited to officially welcome him to the Cowboy Basketball family!”

Prep Career

Known for his consistency and presence in the paint, Ahmed was a double-double machine during his time at Putnam Science. Over three seasons, he racked up more than 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds.

As a senior, he averaged 12.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 57% from the floor. He capped his prep career by earning MVP honors at the 2025 National Prep Championship, scoring 20 points in the title game.

Ahmed also played a major role in Putnam Science’s 2023 national title and 2024 runner-up finishes, setting single-season records for points (654) and rebounds (422) during the 2024 campaign.

He becomes the third freshman to join Oklahoma State’s 2025-26 recruiting class, alongside fall signees Mekhi Ragland (Sunrise Christian Academy) and Ryan Crotty (Miller School).
