Baby Steps: A Citywide Giving Initiative returns to Tulsa as a one-day donation event to support Emergency Infant Services (EIS) and local families with young children.

Organized by the EIS Young Professionals Board, Baby Steps encourages residents to take small actions that result in a meaningful impact by donating diapers, formula, and other baby essentials.

Event Details and how you can participate

This year’s event will take place on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participants can visit designated drop-off locations throughout Tulsa to donate items from a shopping list available at EISTulsa.org/donate.

Suggested donation sites include Walmart and Aldi. Those who cannot attend in person can still support the initiative by shopping the Amazon wish list or making a monetary donation online.

History of Baby Steps and Its Community Roots

Originally known as the Citywide Baby Shower, the initiative began in 2011 after an ORU intern sought to connect the community with EIS through a unique project.

That first event launched with just four drop-off locations and has since grown into a citywide effort under its new name, Baby Steps.

Items Most Needed by EIS

The nonprofit is primarily donation-based and provides families with essentials such as:

  1. Diapers and pull-ups
  2. Infant formula
  3. Wipes
  4. Car seats and pack-n-plays
  5. Strollers
  6. Clothing and shoes
  7. Winter coats, blankets, and toys
  8. Bottles, books, and other baby supplies

EIS serves children up to age 6 and does not require proof of income, citizenship, or an appointment, making its services accessible to all caregivers, including mothers, fathers, grandparents, foster parents, and legal guardians.
