A Tulsa County Jury found a 17-year-old guilty of first-degree murder after prosecutors said he shot and killed a man in the parking lot of a restaurant back in 2023.

What Happened The Night of The Murder?

Broken Arrow Police said Jose Eduardo Cardona Perez murdered Jorge Santos late on the night of September 22nd in the parking lot of a restaurant near 61st and Garnett. Investigators said security camera footage shows Santos got into a fight with a group of people.

How Did Police Tie The Suspect To The Crime?

A probable cause affidavit filed in Tulsa County court reveals Broken Arrow Police investigators made contact with a witness to the shooting who, according to detectives, positively identified Cardona Perez out of a lineup. Cardona Perez was then charged with first-degree murder.

What Happened in Court?

The case went to trial. After Tulsa County prosecutors and Cardona Perez’s lawyers agreed on a jur,y both sides spent about two days making their case before a jury found Cardona Perez guilty.

When’s Sentencing?

It’s currently set for May 27th. The jury recommended life in prison.
