Oklahoma City police arrested a third suspect in connection to the shooting death of a metro man. Police said DNA and Flock cameras helped investigators identify two of the recently arrested suspects.

Police arrested 28-year-old Damien Nelson Junior on Thursday after witnesses at the scene told police Nelson was in a black car with another suspect the night of the shooting.

According to court papers, Nelson and John Moore were meeting the victim and Mareon Walter to buy weed at the Classen 16 apartments in northwest Oklahoma City last week. Walter claimed the two men in the car fired at him and Malik Wilson, 21, to rob them. The gunshots killed Wilson and hit Walter in the foot.

During the investigation police found a cigarette butt and a blood trail that led back to where the black car was parked. Police said the evidence collected at the scene and the car traced back to Moore.

Walter, Nelson, and Moore have been arrested in connection to the death of the victim, although it is not clear what role, if any, Walter played in the alleged robbery.

A local minister who knew the victim as a young teenager posted about Wilson on Facebook and spoke to News 9 by phone. He said church members cared for Wilson and his siblings when they were young. The minister said Wilson had so much potential that was tragically cut short.

The man who was with the victim the night of the shooting was tracked down by police through his GPS ankle monitor. Police said Walter went to the hospital after being shot in the foot.

All three suspects were arrested on first-degree murder complaints and are still in custody. They have not been charged by the Oklahoma County District Attorney.
