A college student’s Thunder-themed T-shirt is gaining attention not just from fans, but from Oklahoma City Thunder players themselves.

Lily North, a graphic design student at Arizona State University, is the designer behind the now-viral shirt featuring Thunder reporter Nick Gallo, and the team took notice at a recent game against the Arizona Suns.

“I’m just like, I’ve got finals in a couple of weeks, but I would miss finals to make a Thunder shirt,” North said.

North originally designed the shirt as a one-off for Thunder guard Jalen Williams, also known as J-Dub. But fans began asking for more after the shirt appeared on social media and on players. Now, the entire team reportedly wants one.

Nick Gallo, the subject of the shirt and a well-known face around the organization, has become an unofficial part of the Thunder family, both on the court and now on fans' clothing.

“I have always been a fan,” said North, who has followed the franchise since its Seattle SuperSonics days.

Despite living in Arizona, North said she makes it to three or four Thunder games a year with her dad. The recent outpouring of support, she says, has made her dream of designing for the team feel within reach.

“Nick, I know you and I have never talked outside of the games, but I appreciate everything you do, and you help me get my foot in the door with this organization,” she said. “Thank you!”

With Oklahoma City hosting its first playoff game on April 19, North says she’s ready to design more shirts if the team gives the word.
