Spreading Kindness: The Learning Experience's April campaign to support Make-A-Wish

It’s a small school with a big heart, teaching kids at a very early age the values of kindness.

At The Learning Experience, it’s a message that is sent over and over throughout the month of April.

“Our kindness campaign, we are teaching our children that it doesn’t matter how big or how small you are it is about the kindness of your heart and how to help others,” said Megan Walker, The Learning Experience OKC co-director.

Kids in the program are from 6 weeks to 6 years old, and an age when kids are mainly focused on their wants and needs, This month, it is all about the needs of others.

“Our kiddos are writing letters to each other and showing kindness to their friends by sharing these activities,” said Walker.

They are also extending their kindness to a special person outside of the school.

“Our Make-A-Wish, we are raising money for Malea, she is our local wish kid, and she is hoping to go to Disney World.

All month, students are learning about Malea and some of her challenges, and they are challenged not to look down on her with pity.

“Not that they are not equal, but some are less fortunate than others, and how we can come together as a school and as a corporation to help empower these children that are battling the critical illnesses,” said The Learning Experience co-director Kaetlyn Dickson.

They are hoping to raise five thousand dollars through fundraisers like a silent auction.

“We’ve had a bunch of things donated by our local community, from gift baskets to gift certificates,” said Walker.
