March Madness 2025: Sooners men and women, Cowgirls prepare for NCAA Tournament

College teams across Oklahoma will play their first games of the NCAA Tournament this week, with the Sooners men's team playing on Friday, followed by the OU and OSU women's teams each in their matchups on Saturday.

Three Oklahoma teams will be advancing to the NCAA Tournament, of which the first March Madness matchups begin Tuesday evening.

The Oklahoma Sooners men's and women's teams, as well as the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, were all selected for the tournament on Sunday. Each team will play its first games of the tournament this week, with the OU men's team first up against reigning national champions, the 8-seeded UConn Huskies at 8:25 p.m. on Friday.

If the Sooners advance, they will play the winner between Florida and Norfolk State.

The following day, the 3-seeded OU women's team plays 14-seeded Florida Gulf Coast at 1:30 p.m., and the 7-seeded Cowgirls take on 10-seeded South Dakota State at 2:30 p.m.

The OU men's team is making its first trip to the tournament since 2021, and the first under current head coach Porter Moser.

The Sooners-Huskies game will be played at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The OU women's team will take on the FGCU Eagles at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. The winner will advance to face either Iowa or Murray State in the next round of the tournament.

As for the Cowgirls, the team makes its first tournament appearance under head coach Jacie Hoyt, who arrived to lead the program in 2023.

OSU finished third in the Big 12 this season, falling short in a semifinal game against Baylor in the conference tournament.

The Cowgirls are up against the Jackrabbits in Storrs, Connecticut.
