The devastating impact of Friday's wildfires in Stillwater is becoming clear as residents return to assess the damage. In the Nottingham Addition, 25 homes have been reduced to rubble, with some neighborhoods still inaccessible.

“I’ve never heard anything like it,” said Val Castor, describing the intense sounds of gunshots when ammunition exploded during the fire. Castor’s team captured the chaos as nearby homes were completely consumed by flames.

Fire crews continue to battle the fire, and in the aftermath, residents are returning to find nothing but ashes. Jim Gardner reports that homes along the south side of Lake Carl Blackwell are destroyed, including what appears to be a trailer park next to the lake.

The wildfires moved quickly, leaving homes intact in some areas while destroying others. As the sun rises, Stillwater residents are left to cope with the loss of their homes, memories, and belongings. The recovery process has just begun.
