FC Tulsa, with a 6W-6L-8D record, is 9th in the Western Conference. They go to New Mexico United, who lead the conference with a 13W-6L-2D record.
"On the road you tend to grind more and fight more," says head coach Mario Sanchez. "Ironically, we have actually been really good on the road this year."
In their last encounter on August 26th of the previous season, New Mexico United won 2-1 at home. Both teams were on a five-match winless streak entering that game.
In their latest home match against Orange County SC, FC Tulsa struggled initially, with Orange County dominating early shots. FC Tulsa's Andrew Booth finally sparked their offense with several attempts, including three of his own. Despite goalkeeper Johan Penaranda's solid performance, saving four of Orange County's eight first-half shots, FC Tulsa's efforts fell short. The second half saw Phillip Goodrum and Harvey St. Clair involved in key moments, but FC Tulsa could not find a goal. An Orange County late push was contained, and the match ended scoreless.
Next, FC Tulsa travels to Memphis 901 FC on August 17th at 7:30 p.m., then to Detroit City FC on August 24th at 6:00 p.m. They return home to ONEOK Field to face Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on September 1st at 5:00 p.m.
