Ponca City Man Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison, Accused Of Sexual Abuse Of Minor

A 29-year-old man accused of sexually abusing a minor was sentenced to serve 15 years in federal prison on Tuesday, United States Attorney Robert Troester said.

On Jan. 18, 2022, an indictment against Jalen Harris, 29, from Ponca City, Okla., alleged he knowingly engaged in a sexual act with a victim who was physically unable to decline participation.

On Feb. 16, 2022, superseding information charged Harris with one count of sexual abuse of a minor, and he pleaded guilty on March 2, 2022.

U.S. District Judge Bernard Jones sentenced Harris to serve 15 years in federal prison on Tuesday. Jones also stated that the victim was in the care of Harris.

The judge also ordered that Harris must register as a sex offender when he gets released from prison. Harris will also serve five years of supervised release.
