Colby Thelen anchors News 9 This Morning each weekday, bringing viewers the latest news with a passion for storytelling. Since joining the team in 2020, he has covered a wide range of stories, from breaking news to in-depth features.

Colby is especially drawn to stories that highlight conservation and culture, exploring how people and places shape the communities around them. Some of his favorite projects were traveling to Africa and Mexico with the Oklahoma City Zoo highlighting their different conservation efforts.

His previous work in Indianapolis, Charleston SC, and New York has taken him into the heart of severe weather, high-profile trials, and major events like the Indy 500.

A proud Clemson graduate, Colby majored in Communications and Political Science before launching his career in journalism.

A native of Hendersonville, NC, Colby is a true southerner at heart. He loves college football (go Tigers!), and good southern cuisine.

Outside the newsroom, he enjoys playing guitar, belting out Chris Stapleton at karaoke, and spending time with his wife, Weesie, their sons, Reece and Boone, and their dog, Swayze, in Mesta Park.
